Standing Tall in Our Magic: Why Curls Poppin’ Dolls Matter in 2026
In a world where representation still has catching up to do, Curls Poppin’ Dolls continues to stand as a symbol of pride, individuality, and perseverance — reminding the world that beauty, brilliance, and culture come in every curl.
Created in 2009 by Ashley T. Head and launched in 2019 with his wife, Lindsey Head, Curls Poppin’ Dolls became the first Natural Hair Fashion Doll line — a historic first that changed the conversation in the toy industry. These stunning dolls aren’t just about play; they are about presence. From their voluminous curls to the wide range of brown skin tones and unmatched articulation, every detail was designed to celebrate Black beauty and inspire educational and personal excellence.
Sharing the Magic of HBCUs
We are proud to be the first and only doll brand sold in the bookstores of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) — beginning with the #1 ranked Spelman College and the world-renowned Morehouse College, both located in Atlanta, Georgia. Each doll is a tribute to the spirit of HBCUs — places where heritage, hope, and higher learning meet. Our mission has always been to share the magic of HBCUs with the world — to inspire the next generation to dream bigger and walk taller.
Rising Higher in 2026
The past year marked incredible growth and community connection. Through storytelling, representation, and partnerships, we’ve deepened our bond with families who see our dolls not just as products, but as reflections of pride and possibility.
And 2026 will be a landmark year: Curls Poppin’ Dolls is expanding to Walmart.com this spring, marking a major step forward in making authentic representation accessible to every home nationwide. We’re also growing our presence with several more HBCU bookstore partnerships, ensuring that students and alumni can continue to see themselves reflected on campus shelves.
As the only Black-owned doll line actively expanding in today’s market, we remain committed to leading with culture, quality, and confidence — proving that purpose and play can go hand in hand.
Representation. Legacy. Love.
Curls Poppin’ Dolls aren’t just standing tall in their custom heels — they’re standing for something much bigger: the celebration of self-love, cultural pride, and the limitless potential of every child who holds one.
Because when children see themselves reflected in the dolls they play with, they learn to see the power and beauty already living within them.
One curl, one campus, one generation at a time — we’re sharing the magic.
